From September 1, 2023 you can register for the Hottest Pepper Eating Contests at Dutch Chili Fest 2023. We would love to see you participate on September 17, 2023 in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven!

Are you ready for a Scoville Suicide?!

The hottest elimination race in Europe has been a crowd favorite for years now. During the Hottest Pepper Eating Contest, the participants eat fresh peppers.

Starting with a modest number of Scoville Units, our hosts from Clifton Chilli Club take that dose of capsaicin to the category of super hots like the Carolina Reaper. Whoever lasts until the last round wins a nice prize.

Are there 2 participants left? Then we do an extra round on time. Whoever works the hottest kneiter in the fastest is the winner (m/f/x).

You understand that this match is not for the faint of heart. Only real daredevils, the real fire eaters, make the trip from a jalapeńo to a reaper (between 1.5 and 2.2 million Scoville Heat Units).

Your registration is for yourself only. You’re not supposed to register other people.
A few days before Dutch Chili Fest you will receive an e-mail stating which competition round you are participating in.
We expect you near the main stage approx. 10 minutes before the start. Our stage manager Rolf has a contract for you to sign, as participation is at your own risk and we cannot afford lawsuits and all that…
After this, the hosts invites you to come on stage.
Are you too late of not showing up at all? Then your spot will go to a participant from the reserve list.

Winners of the Hottest Pepper Eating Contest 2022

Ilyas Günay

Ilyas won the first match at Dutch Chili Fest 2022. No wonder he went home with a beautiful prize.

His response:

“This was one of the toughest races I've been through since 2018 and also my 4th time winning in a row. I really liked how Dutch Chili Fest was organized and the many stands that were there. I really liked it there.”

Jason Landbrug

During the second game of the day, the title went to Jason Landbrug, who beat the other 12 participants as if he was eating snack tomatoes.

At least, so it seems. Of course they were some of the hottest peppers around!

Liliana Carmin Roga

The last victory goes to Liliana Carmin Roga, a Mexican lady who, according to herself, finally found real hot peppers for the first time since her stay in the Netherlands:

"I wanted to chili until I cried, because it is something that we enjoy in Mexico, so I said to myself: why not participate in the spicy contest? I was the last to register and I didn't know what would happen there, the first chilies were tolerable, but when round 6 came my body was fighting, the participants were leaving and I just told myself in my mind, you can with one more, it was incredible to win."
